After more than a decade in the oil and gas industry, Maartje van der Sande (MSc) decided to switch gears and spend her time and energy on making the world more circular. She discovered that many of the end of life mining tires are not being reused to make new tires but instead are buried in the mine sites, while the tire industry uses a stunning 20 million tonnes of virgin rubber every year. This is why she founded Circular Rubber Technologies and now combines her engineering background, experience in capital project management with her drive and enthusiasm to lead the CRT team. Over the last 3 years, CRT has proven its concept and is now working hard to get their first commercial scale facility in Western Canada operational.
