CIX is an annual curation program and conference which showcases Canada’s most promising early stage and scaling startups. Due to the high concentration of curated startups (over 200) CIX attracts North American VCs, corporates, private equity investors and provides the tools to network, build new relationships and increase deal flow.

In its 13th year, CIX has grown to become an internationally recognized tech investment conference where connections are made and deals get done.

CIX’s Innovator of the Year

The CIX Innovator of the Year Award is given annually to a Canadian company that disrupts and transforms an industry in profound ways.  Lightspeed was named as CIX’S 2020 Innovator of the Year and Dax Dasilva, Founder & CEO, shared his story and insight as a keynote speaker.

Spotlight: Canadian Success Stories

Each year, CIX showcases and celebrates some of the biggest Canadian startup stories— innovative companies that are making waves internationally and achieving major milestones. Founders in a fireside chat format with a corporate partner or investor.

CIX Top 20 Early and CIX Top 10 Growth Live Showcases

The CIX awards program is a 5 month-long process of selecting Canada’s most innovative companies. In 2019 433 companies applied from coast to coast. Investors wait for these companies all year. CIX’s selection committee of 65 investors/serial entrepreneurs evaluate and select Canada’s most innovative companies who each presented for 6 minutes, followed by questions and comments from Expert Commentators. The 2020 Companies will be announced on BNN in early September.  

Meeting Exchanges Early Stage and Growth Stage

CIX Meeting Exchanges are popular one-on-one, pre-arranged meetings between entrepreneurs and leading North American investors who are the hosts. These 10-minute meetings are a valuable opportunity for advice, building a relationship and potential funding/partnership. Each year, CIX invites over 50 North American capital providers (angels, VCs, CVCs etc) to be Meeting Exchange Hosts. 

Investor Only VIP Lunch

All registered capital providers are invited to the very popular VIP Investor lunch. Find co-investing partners or just catch up with investor colleagues.  Investors must pre-register.

Pre-CIX Hockey Shiny Funders versus Founders

An annual event, Funders take on Founders in a fun shiny hockey game, followed by drinks and snacks.

STARTUP WORLD CUP

Each year, CIX is the exclusive Canadian Regional competition for Startup World Cup, a global competition that bridges startup ecosystems worldwide. There is 40+ regional events across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, leading up to the Grand Finale in Silicon Valley, where the global champion will be awarded a $1 million investment prize. As part of the program each year, Startup World Cup Canada Regional judges attend CIX and select a winner from the CIX Top 20 Early, who will represent Canada at the Startup World Cup Grand Finale in San Francisco.
